AO features in upcoming scenarios

AO features in upcoming scenarios

I've been looking at the screenshots of some of the scenarios that are in the works (and as of today - played a demo), and it seems to me that very few of these are using things like fog and glowmaps. I assume the same goes for animated textures.
If this is the case, why?
BTW: This is not even remotely a "play" or "not play" issue - I'm just curious. I'll be playing these future scenarios whether they have glowmaps or not.
