To preface my post: I've not yet played Eternal.
That's more of a comment on AO loving to crash my 6500/250 with it's 2 megs (3 megs?) of Video memory onboard than anything.
Forrest, I believe Steve's comments are valid - but I wouldn't take things too harshly. From the plethora of screen shots I've during Eternal's development (both online, and those linked to me from Forg HL server) - the primary gripes of boxy rooms w/ terminal, and textures hold up.
All the screens I saw I believed were simply early versions, or some such.
Anyhow: Building a highrez texture set from the ground up is a task usually to paid game developers. I commend your effort man!
The primary reason why I went with building WMaiD as an link between the trilogy and Rubicon is because it allowed me to draw on the inspiration / use some of / Rubicon's textures. While the color scheme for some planks in Rubicon lacked vivid color, the made use of recycling some textures with sloping metal overlays. Hell, even the original Marathon did this.
As far as textures go - go with your soft toned textures, but muck em' up a bit, and add some sort of thing in front of them. Any of the repeating horizontal Rubicon textures offer good examples of this.
Best of luck with Chapter 2 Forrest. I suppose it's up to you if you'd want to revamp CH# 1 - but I wish you the best either way. :)
