In Response To: RED Volunteers: 3 (Mark Levin) : You are nowhere. The pawn has reached the end of the board and is about to
An very evocative piece of imagery; I have to give my hats off to your interpretation of the terminals of this level. : Remember this part, because it will be important at the end of the next
I think this makes the identity of the player quite obvious now...and it makes the terminal on Mosh Pit make much more sense. Frankly, I can't believe I didn't pick it up the first time. I've got to say though, I was totally confused about this until I re-read the Story Page's article about the player himself. : The idea of the "chariot" is a bit of a stretch, though, since W'rkncacnters are usually interpreted
Well, the end screen of M2 does say that Durandal returned to Sol in a Jjaro ship, so it would fit the meaning well. : The bit about "my mark" is more than a little reminiscent of the story of Cain,
Courtesy of MacSword (a very cool open source Bible study program), here's the passage(s). "14 Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the ground; and from thy face shall I be hid; and I shall be a fugitive and a wanderer in the earth; and it will come to pass, that whosoever findeth me will slay me. 15 And Jehovah said unto him, Therefore whosoever slayeth Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And Jehovah appointed a sign for Cain, lest any finding him should smite him." In this context, you could say that it means that Cain is granted "eternal life" in the sense that no one can kill him, being granted the sign by God. The parallels to our own situation here are very explicit, IMO. BTW, I remember hearing somewhere that according to one story, this particular passage is where we see the arising of the Vampire race. I think it was part of the backstory to the popular pencil-and-paper RPG behind the game Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption. Anyway... : RED's world is considerably more "mystical" than the straight
Something that immediately came to my mind had more of an X-Files-style bend to it: that we, in exchange for the artifacts we'd recovered from the pyramid (which would officially be "hidden"), agreed to an experimental new procedure involving newly acquired technology code-named "Mjolnir"... Perhaps the full extent of our link to the Alien Gemstone was not entirely unknown to Sgt. Eddings's superiors, and our exposure to a powerful artifact linked to the Jjaro would make us a perfect candidate for a future R&D program involving Jjaro technology. I admit it's a stretch, but I am known for having an overactive imagination. :P
