In Response To: Halo - a look back over seven years (Louis Wu) : http://halo.bungie.org/news.html?item=24503 : Give us what you got! My first experience with Halo was playing Co-op. I had been one of those die hard Mac fans that had considered ritual suicide when I heard Bungie had become part of Microsoft and Halo was going to be exclusive to their console. The only console I need is my Nintendo, thank you very much. So I stopped paying attention to it. Then at a get together with friends a controller was shoved into my hands and I, along with my brother-in-law, were commanded to play this Halo game in co-op split screen. I was pretty much hooked immediately but once we started driving the Warthog on the level Halo, I knew I was going to buy this hideous black beast of a console. A few short months later my house became the hub for Xbox LAN parties. I live pretty centrally between the people in my group of friends so everyone would lug their TV's and Xboxi over and we regularly managed to scrape up enough people for hot 16 player action. And also Pizza. When there weren't LAN parties their was co-op. Silent Cartographer. Over and over. Every time I could get together with one of my friends or relatives we would assault that beach. Certainly I spent a great deal of time playing by myself as well. Legendary began to feel like the only difficulty worth playing at. I had a constant yearning for more Halo but one game can only keep you busy for so long, so I dabbled in other titles and found some gems, but I kept coming back to the Master Chief. I was so happy when they announced Halo 2. Little did I know that Halo 2 would be the game that got me to subscribe to Xbox Live. (PAY to play online? Yeah right!) But that's another story.
