If there are clusters of indexes of a type of monster, the random placement code will tend to favor placing monsters of that type at the beginning indexes of those clusters. Bungie wasn't very good with randomness in Marathon 2. But, I doubt it was any better in Marathon! So I'm not convinced that is the answer.

We'll get to the bottom of it.
