In Response To: Re: Louis! Mnemesis! Anyone with power! (Sep7imus) : Well, that's not true.
What he's complaining about, actually, is the lack of a 'bump' feature. On many boards, topics are pushed to the top of the board when a new post comes in. This means that new posts are most visible, because their topics are on the very top of the list... but 1) It leads to abuse that REALLY pisses me off - the 'bump' post which serves no purpose but to bring an older topic to the front of the list; usually employed by the topic's creator when the topic isn't generating the interest he/she expected, and 2) For anyone using a threaded, non-compressed view option, bumped threads make a MESS of the page, and make it nearly impossible to find a topic you were interested in previously. It works okay (with the exception of the aforementioned abuse) on flat boards... it's a disaster on threaded boards. Again, that's just my opinion... but I run this place, and so far, nobody's convinced me that my opinion isn't right. (Saying 'you're wrong, dude' won't cut it.) |
