Nielson's main targets are BUSINESSES, trying to reach customers. (Yes, his info is applicable to ALL websites - but many studies have shown that people's browsing habits when they're pursuing a hobby (like Halo) and their habits when they're looking for a widget to buy are VASTLY different. Again - I'd ask you to show me a gaming site with sub-40k pages. [snip] : But since I've said a lot about this, I intend to put these musings to good
If it's threaded, and customizable, I'm not going to tell you I hate it... I might even use it. :) I've looked, over and over, for a database-driven threaded forum (Phorum looked good for a little bit, but was never able to import old posts from this board, despite a converter tool) - we'll stick with this until something better comes along. :) I know there are people who won't visit because they hate this board. While on one hand this is a disappointment, on the other it's a self-filtering technique; you have to WANT to be here. :) (I'm not sure I'd be happy if our traffic doubled - I have enough trouble keeping up with it (and paying for it) as it is.) | |
