: What are you referring to? All of the following is in regards to CtF (4 on 4, pro, no motion sensors, warthogs only[where applicable], 10 sec respawn), assuming identical teams. Of those three, I'd say only Sidewinder is (more or less) tactically balanced. Hang em high has three major problems... the altitude disparity of the flags, the weapons placement (two extra shotguns for one team to be specific), and the amount of time that must be spent in the open when trying to obtain the flag (a.k.a. the ability to mount a successful assault / cover). IMO the additional routes of entry don't make up the difference. IMO Blood Gulch favors the blue team for sniping (I know sniping isn't everything but it's a lot on those big maps) . A blue sniper can control the entire map from the light side of the blue base (and actually see all the targets without squinting ;) ). Both teleporters, the blue base, the light ledge, the tunnels, the red base, allowing unjust suppression of enemy advances and excellent support for flag attemts while still maintaining a somewhat defensive posture. If that small ledge on the light side near the blue base wasn't there, perhaps it would be more balanced. Of course, this is all from my limited experience and I'm sure I'm missing a lot. Perhaps there should be a grand statistical experiment! Get two teams together and play the maps switching colors but not anything else and record the statistics. Win-loss is unimportant because identical teams are impossible, but keep an eye on kill-death ratios (not the be all and end all of statistics but a decent indicator). I'm willing to bet that there will be consistent trends based on team color. |
