In Response To: Re: More Info (Covenant) Excellent work, that map really looks good. The drawback of someone else already having created it though is it's all too easy to make suggestions for improvements. Here are a few I had in mind... The placement of the weapons is good, but I reckon could be better, based on the most likely purpose of the map: CTF. In that sort of game it should always be easier to defend your base than attack your opponent. This in mind, I reckon that those weapons which are best for defending (the sniper rifle in particular) should be close at hand, whereas the weapons best for the offensive moves should be a little more out of reach. I would suggest moving the powerups to the current location of the plasma rifles, and swapping some of the grenades for said plasma rifles inside the pyramids themselves. The sniper rifle might be best served from the balcony at the top of the pyramid - it wouldn't make much sense to require players to trek all the way to the middle of the map (probably a task in itself) in order to get the sniper rifle, a weapon which is of limited use for an attack. I also had a few thoughts about the map layout - as people have said, some sort of asymmetry would be good, although really all this does is make a map more interesting. In this case, the highly geometric nature of the pyramid might mean that it is essentially fine as it is. My suggestion would be to rotate the pyramids away from one another, maintaining rotational symmetry, but making it that little bit more interesting. It also struck me that the flag location (the room inside the pyramid) might be a bit *too* hard to get to if the balcony above the entranceway were well defended. Perhaps another alternative entrance might be a good idea, or at least some way of circumventing the balcony...? Otherwise I like this map a lot, and damn, I hope they include it in Halo 2... my PC is way too slow to play modern games nowadays so I shall have to upgrade to experience it if it were a PC map... |
