In Response To: twinkle twinkle (Roger Wilco)

I don't know what program you are using, but...
---
You did tile the star map too much. If you want I could give you some of my star maps, some with nebulas and stuff and you can composite them together to get a large map.
---
There should be a supersampling option for the material asigned to your sphere, in most CG programs. You would use that on the stars to help with the twinkling.
---
You need some lense flares coming from the sun and engines.
---
It should be 100% dark on the backside of that planet. All we should see is a crescent shape. That crescent should also be very bright, and put some glow on it so we see some atmosphere.
---
Turn up the specular level on that space ship! When the sunlight reflects off that sucker it should be very bright.
---
Get some bump mapping for the ship, it's too smooth.
---
Camera movement is a bit weird. It moves to the right and then starts going to the left again as the ship comes by.
---
Graphical error: You try and achieve a zooming effect in the camera by actually animating the camera to move closer to the ship. The problem with this is that you can see the stars (which are attached to the sphere) actually grow bigger (because the camera is moving closer to the edge of your star sphere). For all practical purposes, those stars are infanately far away, so would not appear to come close. You can fix this by making the star sphere much much bigger.
---
I am a computer graphics artist. I do this stuff ALL the time, so please keep posting and I'll keep trying to help.
