In Response To: Re: Render test...for no good reason (Warbow)

: Very cool. It looks good. I agree with all of FB's suggestions as well.

Thanks all.

The star thing is not intentional. It is a jpeg of basically a bunch of dots mapped on the inside of a big sphere. The blurry part I can handle, I'm going to use something else anyway...

I was thinking along much the same lines as FB, the twinkling is a result of something to do with the renderer. My completely uneducated guess is that since the dots that make up the starfield may actually be smaller than the pixels of the screen they appear to "twinkle" as they move.

I was wondering about the opening scene of the game...they use a big fat galaxy as the bkg. It looks cool but also would avoid the above problem. If anyone is familiar with this twinkling phenomenon...please let me know.

The planet will get a much needed face-lift and atmosphere. Found some really nice hi-res maps of planets in our solar system. I'll post the links if anyone is interested.

The darkness thing is because I rendered directly to a Sorenson3 QT. For the final deal I will render into an uncompressed format, edit and then export and compress. That should give more control over the exposure and other parameters.

Anyway, thanks again. I will try to keep working on this as much as I can. Made good use of the Legendary badge...maybe I'll post a couple more things later this week if I get the chance. ;)

enjoy
