Though personally, the idea that *pulls out calculator* 98-99% of Earth died during the invasion doesn't really square with Halo 3, either. I don't see how "Terrestrial casualties from the subsequent bombardment were extreme" can't get you more than 70-80% without a planet-wide glassing, especially if the Covenant rapidly turned their full attention to Voi. Also, it doesn't really square with the visual imagery we get from the end-of-Halo-2/Uprising/start-of-Halo-3 continuum.
