Not quite. I suppose I hadn't really comprehended that this wasn't representative of game music before NotTheVacuum said. That's actually reassuring in a way. But, for the record, I generally don't like it when ads for games and films use music that doesn't seem in any way connected to the actual release (unless it ends up being just a damn good piece of videography in it's own right, then I don't mind.) This especially, being dubstep, seems utterly out-of-character for Halo: which is known for it's heavy use of orchestral pieces, monk-chants, with some electronic beats, guitar riffs, and a few cameos from other intruments. I've never known Halo to try and copy what's 'hot' or 'new' on the wider music scene - it just tried to bring something new and interesting to itself. Apart from Halo 2 maybe with those external musician pieces. But, some of those tracks did actually go in the game, and were for the game, and (I think) actually fit thematically pretty well where they were used. (I'm thinking 'Follow' and 'Blow me away' - where there others?) But this, to me, just sounds like generic off-the-shelf dubstep. I don't think 'Halo' in any way, shape or form when I hear it. I don't think it fits the trailers at all and is massively distracting from the actual content (here, look, we're talking about the music and not the weapons) and it SCREAMS of bandwagon. I mean, seriously, super-screaming (next thing we know, PSY will be performing live at the official launch party...). Rather than doing something that is just good as it stands on it's own, that really represents the feel of the game. And they've used it in a whole bunch of trailers recently - I'd really like to hear something different. And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that just because I can't appreciated the wub: I actually went through a full-on dubstep phase late last year. I was wall-to-wall wub for weeks. And some of the songs I've been listening to the most the last few weeks have dubstep-style breakdowns - and I LIKE IT. Perhaps I just need to listen to it more to appreciate it? But I really don't want to, and if it's not gonna be in the game then perhaps I can just forget it ever happened... Speaking of bandwagons, the more I hear about Halo 4 the more it seems like a Halo version of COD 4. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing since CoD4 was by far the best CoD game, but still, you'd prefer a game which was leading rather than following, right? Yes, some of the comments in this post were over-dramatic and I didn't really mean them. Call me stupid, but I love me some Halo. And I'm terrified that my childhood friend is turning into someone I can't relate to anymore. Now I'm all emotional... I'm gonna go shoot some guys.
