That's pretty much exactly what I've been thinking, and also how I think that the trilogy will wrap up.

Here are the outcomes I think will happen:

**IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SPECULATE, DON'T READ ANY FURTHER. **

1.) Master Chief probably won't "die" at the end. His body will probably be destroyed, but Cortana or someone else will download his mind and upload it into a new armor (human, forerunner, or a hybrid of both) and the Chief will live on forever

2.) Cortana will descend further into rampancy but the composer will fix her damaged segments and she'll either go back to normal or become even more powerful

3.) The Master Chief will become severely damaged like in number 1 and Cortana will turn him into an AI via the composer, so that they can get digitally married and have digital babies.

4.) Sgt Johnson will be brought back via the composer somehow. Halsey will be turned into an AI.

5.) The Chief will be converted, serve his purpose, and then go into a stasis perhaps like the didact (or maybe he becomes the next didact, who knows) and tells everyone to wake him again when he's needed again.

6.) Maybe they let the Chief just die. Or they delete him after. Idk.
