I'd agree. The mantra "Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it's not there" applies, and I'd be somewhat surprised if the ammo counter didn't double as a scope/sight.

An underslung grenade launcher has been mentioned, so I think the lower section that houses the flashlight can be traded out for other devices, such as a shotgun attachment.
