I'm always checking for typos, and I hate it when I fail to catch them. My standards for grammar aren't quite as strict, and I often write in a "casual conversation" way. Of course, there's a difference between casual speaking and simply chewing on the English language and spitting it out, between "Hi, everyone. I think Reach has real good graphics. What do you think?" and "hay, pplz! I rly theenk rechs graphix is good n all. whuts you're opinon?" If you sound like a drunken LOLcat, then there's a problem. : I sometimes wonder if I am Dyslexic. If someone can't help it, they can't help it. What pisses me off it people who CAN help it, but are too damn sorry to put in the effort to actually learn to read above a grade-school level. I love to read, and I have ever since before I was even in kindergarten. My mom was a bookworm as well and she taught me to read at a very young age. I spent a ton of time in the school library throughout elementary, middle, and high school. I had a reading level far above average. I recall how in my junior year in high school, I was aghast at how many people in my English class, some of them supposedly A and A-B honor roll kids, had difficulty reading. We had to read out loud sometimes, and it seemed like every other sentence, they paused and went "Ummm..." whereupon I had to fill them in. And it often wasn't long, difficult words. I volunteered to do all the reading myself so I wouldn't have to put up with hearing them. There's no excuse for that many 17-year-olds, many of whom were supposedly the good students, to have such atrocious reading skills. We were reading typical high-school stuff like Animal Farm, not a dissertation on superstring theory. I could read better than that when I was 6. It was quite apparent to me that few of them ever voluntarily picked up a book, much less read recreationally on anything approaching a regular basis.
