Perhaps that's one of the key problems - when you say Halo to the public, they think video game. When you say Star Wars or Star Trek, at least there's a greater chance they'll think movies, games, comics, etc... Perhaps at this point in time, Halo's franchise is too video-game-centric to the masses, so they don't know that there's more beyond the games that really fills in the gaps. They're building the Halo universe, but not (or haven't been) pushing the marketing outside the video games. I think that will change (well, is right now) as time goes on, and I think that's the part of 343's objective. They just need to focus less on the video gamer demographic I think :)
