In Response To: Get To Know Your HBO: Top 10 360 Edition! (GrimBrother One)
Ok, literally just pulled out 10 boxes from my games shelf. Here goes:
Gears of War 2
HORDE!!! Awesome fun. Better than ODST's Firefight if I do say so myself (i've certainly played Horde a lot more)
Assassins Creed
Theres always something slightly special about the first in a series, Assassins Creed was no different. Dispite the 'auto-pakour' you still feel awesome running across rooftops. And Atair >> Ezio. Plus you actually feel like you're threatened rather than being an untouchable god in the second game.
Mass Effect
I actually liked the elevators! Plus, the second one went too far towards 'action game' and lost a bit of the RPGness that so many action games are trying to imitate! Strong characters and hawter sex scenes too. Combat starts off a little spammy, but soon tightens up.
Crackdown
Light relief entertainment. I actually bought it for itself, long after the H3 beta as already over. Still enjoyed the hell out of it. Precise jumping and plenty of gorgeous explosions.
Portal
Short, but sweet. Very enjoyable. Iconic characters.
Mirror's Edge
The most believable platforming game you've ever played! Strong visual style, great controls, and a sufficient layer of depth that you can start to pull of some really sweet stuff if you push it.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Dispite its flaws, this is still one of (if not the only) the best big battle combat games. Features some great non-shooting focused support roles and encourages team play with rewards for calling out enemy positions (through a handy-dandy button press that more games should have!), and reviving and repairing and healing and resupplying your allies.
Oh, and you and bring down entire buildings. AWESOME!
PGR3
A little old now, and I only don't say PGR4 because I've not played that one. An excellent car game with great graphics, precise, sharp handling and KUDOS! Demands a high level of skill to compete at the higher levels.
Colin McRae: DiRT
FUN FUN FUN! Road racing seems almost stale in comparisons to the epic slides you'll pull of on dirt and mud and gravel travelling at 70mph through a rainy forest...sideways! Slightly tunable cars, looks great, plenty to play (oh, and easy achievements too! :P)
Fallout 3: GotY
Decent games. Main point is: Loads to do and see. Good value entertainment.
