I kind of agree with you. In the sense that not every developer needs to concern themselves with making their games art. When I make a game I make it to be fun and enthralling. Sure there might be a lot of artistic elements in what I do, but I wouldn't say that I've been aiming to make my game high art to begin with. I would rather have something that plays well and presents a great story, than a game (Flower) that focuses solely on trying to get a single point across. But there are designers who have their eyes set on making a game that can be considered higher art. More power to them, don't listen to the Eberts of the world and forge on ahead. Can't wait to see what such people will create in the up and coming years. :)
