Agreed. I've been waiting for an anthology of this sort for my own reasons, simply because, being a writer myself, a short story can sometimes tell a lot more than a novel. It can offer you a limited perspective on a character, but let you hypothesize about the specific character's backstory and possible future. For instance, this Preston Cole story, though I haven't read it, is coupled with the idea that the Admiral, at some point in his military campaign in the Outer Colonies, died as a hero standing his fleet against an eventually outnumbering Covenant force. I'm a sucker for these little plot turns, especially when they involve someone who became a legend in the fight against the Covenant and ultimately met his doom at the hands of the enemy he managed to disgruntle so many times.
