In Response To: Now THAT (rolandk73) : Is constructive criticism. Glad to see the community pull together to calmly : give advice and express opinion. I don't use the word "cliche" often but I can honestly say that The Duel was the most cliche thing I've ever seen. It was literally nothing more than a VERY, VERY poorly executed samurai anime. Everything about it, from the art, to the direction, to the dialogue was so contrived and terrible that I honestly feel Twilight was a better piece of art than this. "Artistic license" only goes so far. The Hunters being 30 feet tall, for instance, was fine. I thought that was a cool change. But the fact that the elites are just samurais and nothing more is unacceptable. The Elites don't even look like Elites. They wear fucking kimonos. One of them literally was wearing samurai armor. Even the action was abysmal. The final duel at the end for instance...why the fuck does it just show their faces for 30 seconds with nothing happening? They're not people, they're static images, there's no tension there. WHY DOES IT FUCKING RANDOMLY CHANGE BLACK AND WHITE? It's like that old DBZ joke, it takes them like 3 episodes just to power up. But in this case, THEY'RE NOT EVEN MOVING. It's just a still image of them standing there that randomly changes color. And then at the end, SURPRISE, THEY BOTH DIE! Except it's not a surprise at all, that's literally the MOST predictable outcome possible and happens in every single anime where there's ever a sword duel. One thing I liked was the Arbiter's armor. At least they didn't fuck that up.
