(Holiday) : this is where i think you may be mistaken, if you watch the 10min E3 2000 : movie carefully there are a few scenes that clearly show off the 3rd : person camera implemented very nicely. namely the bobs assault on the base : and a few scenes afterward. keep in mind this movie was before development : started on x-box (if i'm not mistaken) and controller issues changed : halo's camera focus. Hmm... The E32K video was entirely scripted cinematics. There was no actual gameplay involved, although the rendering was done in-engine.
