First, second, and third person are ways in which you refer to someone or something, rather than a point from which you view a scene.

1st person: I
2nd person: You (singular or plural)
3rd person: He/She/It/Them

I've oftened wondered how one would make a game that's played in second-person, but it doesn't seem possible.

Third-person isn't restricted to one viewpoint. RTSs are third-person games. Modern RPGs are third-person games. Games like Tomb-Raider are and aren't third-person. You see yourself from behind, but you still play the game as "I".
