In Response To: I played COD4 for a bit. Here's what I think: ([AMS] GreyThor) : And my roommate is fixated on its XBL multiplayer. I think it's overrated. I : think combat isn't anywhere as great as Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon AWs, and : when I first saw my roommate playing it at 3 in the morning I thought it : was Counter Strike for the Xbox. : I think the combat system is somewhat broken: from "Last Stand" to
: Hell, I think the only thing it had good going for it was its campaign
: COD4 is going to fizzle out when the next "Halo-killer" comes out
not that im hating on cod series, but 5 is already in the works and is already known to be set in world war 2 japan (my cod loving friends told me) on a very personal level ive never wanted to try cod 4 as is seems like a major step away from why i originally got into fps's originally except for multiplayer sessions on goldeneye (my mates adored it) i never tended to like them, greyed out games/ dungeon crawlers where never something that appealed to me, but i always wanted a game where you faught alongside an army and it felt like a war and belive me when i saw the halo 3 demo, the visuels drew me in, i had never seen so much colour or such a great setting in a game before, guns that shot blobs of green and pink needles at you, it was definatly something new. when i played the halo 3 demo (silent cartogropher) the beach landing alone blew me away, at the time i was pretty naive so seeing those marines rolling around, throwing grenades and generally shouting to one another was amazing. wow this has turned into a long post why i got into halo, sorry back on track call of duty always seemed like one of those games that was part of the saturated market of fps's that i dont enjoy, the world war 2 fps's were done to death, and now simelary i feel modern combat is a saturated genre, i just dont like the dusty grey setting, and dull guns, plus i really dont like the realistic gameplay it brings, halo 3 has its own set of tactics i enjoy more. in summary, personally i just dont like realistic games as much halo 3 for me has a much wider array of combat areas, infact just looking at the multiplayer maps alone, theres no way you cant say theyre similar. dont get me wrong, i aknoledge cod4 does things better than halo, everyone choosing theyre weapons at the start for one, removes the whole "doing a shopping trip for the power weapons" as someone on here said when cod4 originally came out, and i guess if you prefer more realistic gameplay mechanics its just the better game
