: I understand the implications and the questions. But look at the sheer scale

: size comparison: the fusion pack on MC takes up what--a third or a
: fourth?--of the armor. If there was no change in the power needs over a
: ratio, a shield projected over a ship a kilometer long would need a fusion
: reactor a third it's size! And in GoO one of the brass comments that you

The thing about the bubble shield as compared to the mjolnir shielding is that the fusion core had to sustain the shield constantly to make it useful, so that takes a lot of juice, but the bubble shield explodes after a while because it isn't meant to last for long periods of time, it is meant for one use to change the tide of the battle. it is a matter of time, power and size, if you use less power, it will be smaller, but if you shorten the time it exists, you can have a larger shield.
