Authors take accusations of plagiarism pretty damn seriously. Are you going to back your innuendo up with anything? Or don't you like the twist on a ubiquitous phrase, which is a fairly common feature of taglines? It's familiar to me because I wrote it. I've been using that tagline since approximately 1998 when I started trying to sell WAY OF THE WOLF. I've got old query letters around somewhere to prove it, I also read my copy material aloud to members in my writers group who will be happy to back me up. I had the phrase up on the first iteration of the Vampire Earth website, which I made as part of a web design class project. It appeared on the cover of the AOLTWBG iPublish version published in 2001 (a copyright page is a legal document and will hold up in any court), and after that company closed its doors and Penguin bought the rights to the series the tagline appeared again on the cover of the Roc edition in 2003. My conscience is clean about the stuff I wrote and still write. Sure, some of it's derivative going right back to H.G. Wells' "War of the Worlds" or "Doc" Smith's Arisians and Eddorians (some of the first SF I ever read and very influential on me) but I don't think HALO fans should be throwing the derivative stone.
