In Response To: Re: New Bungie Jobs (PC) (themanlydeadguy) : My bet (and this is mostly wishfull thinking) Halo 2 PC, NOT contracted out Given the strained relationship between Gearbox and Microsoft (I suspect it was more MS than Bungie that caused the tension) as regards all updates to Halo PC (the Halo CE debacle is a good example), I wouldn't be surprised if Bungie were to want to handle a conversion in-house, particularly if they want to develop their own alternative to Xbox Live matchmaking for online play. All other questions aside, there is logic to the reasoning that Bungie would want to handle it internally. Oh, and in answer to Count Zero's suggestions that this merely represents possible internal tool development; this only makes sense if Bungie were to actually undertake development of middleware and internal tools. Suggestions were that Microsoft wanted all inhouse game deveopment to utilise the Unreal Engine 3, which would come with its own suite of testing/development tools. Also, why would you need Windows networking and DirectX 9 experience for these? It's all very mysterious. I actually have reason to look forward to E3 now... | |
