the lead designer of TF2 said he has a date penciled in his calendar for June 14th... He said it will definitely be around that time. If you think the only aspect of this game are multiresolution meshing(polygon with distance you mentioned) and talking, then your greatly mistaken. There are many cool features, here let me explain one of them, in the class based system a commander(who plays the game in the rts top down view, but also can zoom into the 3d world view)who can issue orders via voice actually has to set building to be built (ala command and conquer) its up to the engineers(other players) to build them, then once the bases are secure you can start the offensive. Were talking a blend of C&C and first person shooter, I say just this aspect is pretty goddamn revolutionary. there are many more aspects but why type all night, trust me when I tell you, It will be in many ways just as unique and amazing as HALO, and this title will be out in June > Halo is a massive undertaking. Not only does it look great, but
Have you forgotten tribes 2? heheheh no your right, Halo definitely uses some impressive stuff, but you need to understand, there are many other titles destined to be just as impressive, do you realize that Black and White is actually going to be out in november? This is a game that has won raves at E3 (I have seen it, it's truly spectacular) and in many fields (AI, realistic physics) it rivals and defeats anything we have seen with HALO. > Halo possibly could've been close to being completed by now, had
you are wrong, at E3 Halo still needed tons of work, even eithout this deal I dont think it would be out before march 2001. HALO is still a TECH DEMO, basically an engine with some features and no real foundation for an actual game or structure yet. Which is why all it does it look cool, I mean how will it actually play? we don't know.. > Due to the fact that it is coming out for the X-Box FIRST, I'm
do not kid yourself, the X-Box will not rival the PC for graphics quality or gameplay ability. Remember, the interface of a keyboard and mouse allows for some detailed gameplay not to mention the power of the pc and resolution ability of the monitors make a TV using console look like crap in comparison. When the x-box comes out, p4-1500-2000 mhz's will be out as well as vid card that can do 2000 fillrate calculations.. The truly amazing games still will be the PC games... which is just how I want it. As good as a console will be in terms of SALES, whenever a company decided to make games and port them over, you can almost always be assured the PC version will not be as good as the X-Box port. Not unless they put a TON of time into the PC version, in any case, TF2 is designed for the PC first, as is Black and white and all the other games were waiting for, Halo is the ONLY one which has turned it head mostly towards a console, which means it may not be the game for us PC players anymore.. Time will tell, just dont hold your breath, any of you..
