: I was thinking off adding this issue to my theory. We have obviously seen that the Covenant don't understand that the Halos will kill them. They believe activating them is the BEGINING of the Great Journey. Truth would think Tartarus activating the ring would start the journey and whatever he is after on earth/ark (we dont know for sure that ark=earth) is another important step. And just from the cut scenes we would have no idea how long the Slipspace jump back to earth was. It could easily have been hours ( or minutes) after the Arbiter asked the 343 where the ark was. Bungie just cut the scenes like that to make it more dramatic and to make us all get pissed off because we have to wait until Halo 3 for the answer all our questions.
