Before that mural was released to the fans with the release of the Halo 2 LE DVD on 11/09/2004, the only good reference material we had for how the Halos should be distributed throughout the galaxy is shown in PD's graphic that's been posted up here for the past 3 years (thanks Wu). http://home.surewest.net/replay/Radius.jpg That is where the term 'uniform' comes from. One thing to note about any picture/graphic of the Milky Way galaxy is that it is subject to interpretation. Yes, scientists believe the Milky Way is a "spiral" galaxy, in that it is rotating one way, with arms wisping out at the edges like octopus arms. What scientists don't completely agree on is how circular or oval the Milky Way galaxy is (when looking at it from a Bird's Eye view). PD's graphic shows a spiraling galaxy that is very consistent in shape. With such consistency, the Halos could only be set up the way he displays them in his graphic. Again, I'd like to point out that this was the only graphic fans had available to work with until the release of the mural. This is where I drew my line in describing "uniform" and "non-uniform" setups. Tablet 5 Mural shows an extremely simplistic spiraling galaxy with a very elongated, oval shape with only two arms. Surprisingly, or unsurprisingly, this layout would seem to contradict the layout in GS343's diagram. So, we have two pieces of evidence from Bungie themselves, yet they do not sync up with each other, this is the final reason I used PD's graphic as "uniform" distribution, and these two pieces of Bungie evidence as "non-uniform". |
