Vacation days, on my part. :) Nothing like an artificial long-weekend on the release date.

There's speculation that the Thursday release is in part to partially synch with North America; remember that UK time is 4-8 hours ahead of North America's. (Though why that'd kick it back *two* days is a mystery to me... unless there's bad Ju-Ju for releasing on a Wednesday.)
