(Actually, my pre-teen years' pre-teen years are almost out of their pre-teen years. :) But it beats the alternative.)

I did about an hour of experimentation last night on HaloCE in devmode over Death Island. I never did get a classic split-s, even setting the mouse sensitivity to "9"... the closest I can get is a push-over (eyeballs OUT!) into a vertical dive and then a roll in the dive.

The problem is that the mouse is set up to make coordinated turns (stick and pedals) and a split-s needs stick-only control in order to do the half-roll.

Immelmans, however, are trivially easy and almost as fast... since there's no pilot red-out/black-out in Halo, it's no big deal that the split-s is missing.
