But why would switching perspective complicate things any more than, say, switching between hi- and lo-res modes? It's just what appears on the screen; the controls would all be the same, you would just be able to force your camera to look where you're looking, or otherwise let it roam intelligently around you.
Either way you're not gonna be staring at your butt all the time; Myth II's autocam is probably a good place to look to see something like what Halo's will be like, except it will always focus on the action around you and not elsewhere.
