Counteract this argument with facts:

1. FTL drives. The poem mentions nothing about FTL drives in the 26th century. What it states are the Marines and their stasis chambers during the 26th century.

2.Teleporters: teleporters, from my understanding, use a substantial amount of power that are only used in emergencies. If you notice, the teleporter in Marathon was a technology that the humans did have, but they had it for the Marathon only. If you also note, it was short ranged and it was on the Marathon only (that we know of). The Marathon was a colony ship, not a dropship. The dropships have no where the power generation to use teleporters, or the humans would be using energy weapons for those things.

3. the energy weapons: Ah yes, why don't the humans have fusion weapons? Well if you remember those weapons were very unstable and rare weapons. I can't remember where in Marathon it says this, but it does. The humans, obviously, on a small ship don't have the facilities to build such a weapon. Also, because the weapon was unstable, only a few were made, and still need major improvements on the technology.
