You don't travel back in time at the end. You go Outside, and the dream world you find yourself in is a dream of the place you started this whole adventure on.

: If there are any sequels to Eternal it would be cool if some time traveling
: thing causes you to meet your former self.

Actually, the earliest version of the story that eventually became Eternal's plot featured a level called "I'm Everywhere!" which involved that.
