: Ernie, a tip from me, play the first levels, an hour of gameplay or so, it
: should be enough to impress you. At least that was all it took for me to
: say, oh my god, this is awesome. (though I am still wondering why it is so
: awesome, I haven't find anything new in it, but I get a good feeling when
: playing it)
There are some new things here, but to me the most impressive thing is what Matt did with the M1 engine. There are so many things that we're used to from M2/I that just shouldn't be here - water, for example. Although you can't actually swim in it, you would swear it's real. The texturing isn't perfect and there are a lot of misaligned textures, but the overall look and feel is coherent and amazing. Lots of eye candy - much more than you're used to from inside the Marathon or even outdoors in Trojan.
