Yeah, I imagine it would assist in depth perception, also there's the chance that the third eye can be directed independently of the others, a la chameleons. It's also possible that these are compound eyes, though unlikely because, as you mention, they all seem to be facing the same direction while compound eyes tend to be bulbous and not socketed as yours or mine. I guess it can also be debated as to whether the Pfhor have pupils...can you really see them on the sprite?

This all depends on whether you believe the pfhor as we see them are the products of their own natural evolution or of biological engineering. I'd imagine its some combination of both. We never actually see the shape of their mouths, whether they have jaws capable of mastication like humans, pincers like ants, or maybe even a sucker like mosquitoes...I don't believe we ever get a glimpse beneath the mask.
