heh. "That one time" indeed. I wanna chime in here and say that I thought the Rubicon textures were one of the best features of the scenario. Not only were they very well-made, but they actually looked like they belonged together. Very unified thematically. One thing I found re-making the M1 textures was that every one looked like it was designed in a vacuum, or by a different person. They each looked fine, but there was no unifying sense of design to any of the textures within a set, and they often looked very out of place next to one another (different materials, different color scheme, different details). The Pfhor texture were the worst culprits... The Infinity sets were a little better, mainly because Double Aught (ydnar?) made the textures in a modular fashion, reusing a lot of the same parts from texture to texture. But also because there was a conscious effort to make the textures similar to one another thematically... similar palettes, similar style, similar little architectural details. Rubicon nailed, and it has a very tight and distinctive visual style. The textures just FIT together, and they fit the architectural style very well, and just feel like an awful lot of thought went into defining their look. The palette might be muted, but the textures are anything but dull IMO. Can't wait to see the high-res versions ;) JF | |
