But if that were the case, he wouldn't have made it so subtle that most of us are only now noticing it. But that could be pompous, avant-garde artist attitude screaming "THIS MEANS SOMETHING! THIS IS ART! I AM A GENIUS!!!" sort of like Nostalgia Critic's running jokes on M.Night Shaymalan's movies; just pretentious symbolism that doesn't have any real deepr meaning than just slapping his name in the corner, but he thinks it's more meaningful. Tycho is an uncanny valley character... it's obvious something is wrong with him, but it's hard to diagnose it. It just feels off. He's supposed to be insane, but there's a sliver of reason to him. He tells us what supposedly brought Durandal to Lh'owon, and his motives are darker than Durandal led on, but how much of Tycho's stories can we believe? Durandal is an inversion of this. He made himself out to be sane on the surface by M2... but there's still a tiny bit of his former craziness in there (like that terminal where he waxed about wanting his revenge on Bernard Strauss), and he hammers it into our heads that Tycho is a fool. He's definitely keeping secrets from us (like what he means to do to escape the universe), and Hokuto's theories on him in the Infinity dream levels are brilliant. Tycho and Durandal are both fascinating characters with multiple layers of depth.
