Where you're doing homework and getting good grades and stuff, I'm having my fun in the form of socailizing, playing loud heavy metal music with friends, and plotting ways to get the princapal of my school fired with another set of friends. Balance and compremise can be two different things; like you said, you want your shower water hot, but not scalding, while you sometimes have to compremise your veiws to get along with people, or to get things done. No one likes compremise, but is a very nessaray thing. On my end, people (parents, teachers etc.) want me to balance my fun and my sudying in a compremise whare I can have my fun, but also do all my school stuff. As I'm sure you know, this means that I have less (sometimes far less) fun, but am more succsessful at something that doesn't interest me, like thermodynamics. I have tasted both the succsess and the fun, and the latter is so much sweeter. Also, my goal in life so far is not accidemic at all, it being to ether become a awesome guitar player and world domanation with bandmates and such, or become some sort of washout of socaity that people give money to so they stop talking to lamp posts. How likely are ether senarios? I don't want to know, because I would become depressed. I'm sure these sound like the grandiose dreams of childhood, because they are, but music is my love.

: True, the modern world is quite taxing mentally and emotionally. I'm only 14

: basic examples: you don't want your dinner (or shower water) too hot or
: too cold. You don't want too much food for dinner, but you want enough.

: one. Now, exact balance is boring, and what works varies quite a bit from
: person to person. When it comes to life-matters, balance is very appicable
: too. And now I must go do some of the aforementioned homework :-P.
