In Response To: What matters (Beckx) : is that the levels the Ark and the Covenant (see what they did there?) are my : favorite levels in the entire series. They are really good levels, probably the best in Halo 3 - although neither will ever take the place of the original Silent Cartographer and AotCR for me. But yeah, man alive were there some shenanigans going on with the plot. I seem to recall that Bungie's original plan for Halo 2, back when it was going to be the end of the story, featured three more levels after The Great Journey - one of which took place on the moon and another of which took place on the Ark (which was on the moon? Or maybe Earth. Wherever it was, it doesn't seem to have been millions of miles from anywhere). In that case, it seems quite clear that Truth was trying to Great Journey himself with the Halo effect, since he would have been well inside its blast radius - but then, why head for Earth at all? Mercy seems to think it's so that they can kill all the infidels before the rings fire, so they won't be uplifted to godhood along with the righteous...what does Truth have to say about that? It's been forever since I read Contact Harvest, is there anything in there? What a clusterfuck of plotlines that was. I blame Microsoft. Also this is mostly irrelevant, but I genuinely did not realize until I was typing this very post that Mendicant Bias was already planned to exist as early as Halo 2. Cortana's throwaway line during High Charity, and I guess the Whisper in the Storm backmasked lines...I kind of wish the guy had gotten a little more exposure, if they were that interested in him. Hoping Halo 4 will take us back to the good old days of a bored AI seeking godhood gallivanting around the universe with a murderous cyborg...did MB die when the Ark blew up, or did he have some way out of that too?
