But I still find one problem: you have to charge the gun : but not refill any ammunition stores. So would the metal be a super-heated : byproduct of the plasma making process? : As for the ships... I have no idea. But the shots look more like death-rays : than plasma to me. I think that maybe the Forerunner manipulated elements to come up with a metallic element with a crazy-high proton/neutron/electron count, which would be really unstable, and somehow, they used science (so advanced that the only technical term for it is "magic") to put this in the weapons to discharge at will. [Hey, they had a photon bridge strong enough to support a fully-loaded Warthog. It's possible.]
