But Frankie, the Halo universe has given us an explanation for the plasma guns. If, as was stated in one of the books, I think, a plasma rifle discharges a plasma-fied metal (perhaps one not known to present-day humans) and controls it with powerful electromagnets, the blob, to use a technical term, wouldn't disperse. We know that at least Covie shipbound weapons work like this; when they blew up a ship, the blob of plasma it had fired dispersed because the magnetism that was controlling it ceased to be in effect. |
