If they have a long history together, how come the flood are not seen in the murals?

The murals do show conflict between the prophets and elites, the introduction of the hunters, the prophets preaching to the elites about forerunner technology, the halo rings...but if the flood were a part of their history, why are they not seen? The same horrible parasites that led to the destruction of the forerunner and nearly all other sentient life would have throughly altered covenant history if they ever turned up, right? Where are they???Where???
