Work with the jpg version. The gif won't work properly. Get the image here: http://bs.bungie.org/glyph/g5.htm
It seems jpegs are vector images. No source specificaly says but they must be. Gifs are bit-mapped images and don't resize properly. I think I made some errors then back in my post I linked to in the post above this. But most of the ideas still hold true. They aren't connected.
