: Actually, it's the graphics card on the Beige G3 that doesn't fully support
: OpenGL, even though all the software libraries are present. This was true
: for even the top-of-the-line Beige G3 model, which I was fortunate to have
: at my job, even though it was the first Mac that came with a separate
: graphics card installed. If you would like to play the existing version of
: AO on your Beige G3, you should be able to do so by upgrading your
: hardware. All you need is a slightly newer PCI graphics card that is
: already supported by Mac OS - it doesn't have to be a high-end model - one
: of the older ATI cards will work just fine and can be had for next to
: nothing. If you max out your Beige G3's RAM and upgrade your video card,
: you will be able to play anything - just don't expect to use the larger
: high-res textures with such a slow machine.
: That said, if you would like to download and use the B&B version of AO, you
: can download it from http://aleph.inio.org/ . Note that with this
: version, any high-res textures need to be added to the shapes file - they
: cannot be implemented in MML as with the newer versions of AO. The
: necessary shaps patch for Infinity is on the referenced website. If you
: actually want to create content for this engine, check out this tutorial
: . There is also a link to Carlos on the Run here. One important caveat -
: there is a slight variance in the dimensions in the B&B build and in a few
: scenarios, particularly in Marathon Fell, there may be spots where the
: marine can't fit through doorways etc.
The actual AO, doesn't support this tech. righ... but this AO supports most of the features of the new AO, right?.
The downside is that it only runs on OS9 and the floating polys are hard to make....
In this same discution, I read somewhere that the tutorial of how to implement the B&B on newer AO is still out there.... If so, why don't we ask devs to port this AO for the OSX?... we wouldn't lose anything, but we would gain more features (and in scenarios too)
et je comprends français aussi :-D but not very much
