My understanding of Bungie's writing is that just about every little detail matters, so...

Alas, I'm not yet really familiar with Destiny's inner workings and thus don't know enough about the Taken to gauge how plausible them being the Security Officer is. But this does remind me of Myth's "the hero of one cycle is the adversary of another".
