Maybe they're an egg-laying species. Or give birth to larvae. I don't think they would share the same type of live birth as humans(babies basically smaller versions of the adults), since ,as far as I can remember from high school biology, mammals are really the only species that have that type of live birth. Most other creatures lay eggs or birth babies that develop in distinct stages(frogs birth tadpoles, which develop into frogs). Not saying I agree with the elite/jackal theory, just thought I'd give you some sort of answer, even though it was a rhetorical question.:)
