Well, what strikes me as odd is that they took the time to create the whole surface of halo. If the flood threat was so great and time was short I think they would have just built it then fired? But they planned out everything. How long would it take to plan out the surface inch by inch while the flood are breathing down your neck? Would you even take the time to do it if you could just build a metal ring and fire and end the flood. That means either they build the surface after the fireing or Halo as a whole was build before the flood. Or they can make land real fast.
