Yeah, I'm kinda surprised Ferrex didn't mention that last point.

Compensating for the degree of latency encountered in Internet play is a VERY tricky proposition for "shooter" type games. Experienced FPS developers took years to get in the groove with that... and actually still have difficulties. I would say that I doubt that Xbox Halo netcode is built to handle significant latency, except that "doubt" isn't nearly a strong enough word; there's no way they would spend time on those issues when they didn't have to, and even if they did, there's no way any lag-compensating scheme would work in the absence of thorough actually-playing-over-the-Internet testing.

I guess with two people using the same high-speed access provider, you might get an acceptable result. (That is, if there aren't any assumptions in the design of the Xbox Halo netcode that cause it to just plain break when the latency gets above a few tens of milliseconds or when some packets get dropped.) But in general, anyone who actually does get this working may be in for an unpleasant surprise.
